Alexandria King Street Art Festival 2019 Set For September

The festival features displays from 200 artists, a beer and wine garden, and ice cream bowl fundraiser.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — For one weekend each year, King Street turns into an outdoor art gallery. The 17th annual Alexandria King Street Art Festival returns on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on King Street from Washington Street to the waterfront. Admission is free.

More than 200 artists from around the country will showcase fine jewelry, handcrafted apparel, decor, paintings, life-sized sculptures, glasswork, photography, ceramics and other works of art. Artists will be on site for the entirety of the festival, allowing visitors to learn the inspiration behind the works. Over $15 million in art will be on display in all.

The original artwork on display is selected from a panel of expert judges from hundreds of applicants. The selection process ensures a variety of mediums and price ranges will be offered.

Aside from browsing the outdoor art gallery, guests can enjoy The Art League's popular Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser sells handmade bowls with a scoop of ice cream for $15 each. Proceeds benefit The Art League's ceramics department. Participants can enter free drawing to win ceramic artwork and an Art League gift certificate.

The Torpedo Factory Art Center will bring back its Beer & Wine Torpedo Garden Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy a glass of craft beer or wine while exploring all three floors and 82 artists’ studios. The event will include exhibitions, games, hands-on activities and music.

Well-behaved leashed pets on leashes are welcome at the festival.
