Alexandria Little League Teams Compete In Final, Semi-Finals

ALEXANDRIA, VA—As the 2018 Junior League State Tournament is in the final days, Alexandria's teams remain contenders for championship titles.

The Alexandria Little League Juniors All-Star team, comprised of 13 and 14 year olds, is competing in the state championship game. The game is being held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 9 at Eugene Simpson Field, 426 East Monroe Avenue.

The Alexandria Little League Majors All-Star team, made up of 12 and 13 year olds, is undefeated heading into the regional semi-finals Monday night in Vienna.

"Alexandria Little League is proud to celebrate the City of Alexandria and honor Eugene Simpson Field as we watch the grit and hard work of these young Alexandrians play for the Virginia state title in Little League baseball," said Alexandria Little League president Paul Miller.

The Alexandria Little League is hosting the 2018 Junior League State Tournament July 5 through 11 at the Eugene Simpson Field. Teams are competing for the state title and the chance to move on to the Southeast regional tournament, followed by the Junior League World Series.

Alexandria Little League has not only allowed hundreds of Alexandria kids to play baseball but has brought the community together. Less than a week after the June 14, 2017 shooting at Eugene Simpson Field, the Little League made a resilient return to the field to play ball.
