Alexandria Residents Asked To Report Flooding Damage

The city is seeking reports on damages in order to request federal disaster relief.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — After flash flooding swept through Alexandria on Monday, July 8, the city is asking residents to report damage. These reports are due by Friday, July 12.

City officials are working with state and local partners to assess damage. According to the city, the storm caused significant damage to homes, businesses, public facilities and roads.

Damage reports will be used as data to pursue federal disaster relief if such funds are available. The city's Office of Emergency Management is working with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and Federal Emergency Management Agency to determine what assistance may be available to residents from state and federal programs.
