Restaurant Week — This citywide event offers up many dining opportunities through Sunday, Sept. 1. Participating restaurants serve a $35 dinner for two or a $35 three-course fixed-price meal. See the restaurant week website for more information on participating restaurants.

March on Washington Anniversary — Commemorations of the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom continue this week. Georgetown Patch has a list of events and exhibits for your consideration.

Help the Red Cross — The Alexandria Chapter House of the American Red Cross (123 North Alfred St.) is hosting a blood drive from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Donors will receive coupons for free items from Dunkin’ Donuts.

Laura Tsaggaris — This D.C.-based signer-songwriter with a loyal local following takes the stage at 10 p.m. Thursday at The Light Horse (715 King St.).

A dog walks into a bar — Bring your pooch to Jackson 20 (480 King St.) at 5 p.m. Tuesday and/or Thursday for Doggie Yappy Hour, a tradition unlike any other.
