Alexandria's Central Library To Expand Services On Fridays

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria's libraries have been offering in-person services on select days, but Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central Library will soon have expanded service.

Starting on June 11, Beatley Central Library will be open for in-person services on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This library location has been offering in-person services on Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays.

Library patrons can browse library collections, use computers and Wi-Fi, and check out materials. Due to staffing shortages, there will be no passport services and limited reference services during Friday hours at Central Library. In-person visits are limited to two hours. Masks are required for anyone over age 5.

The Barrett, Burke, and Duncan branches will continue with curbside-only service on Fridays. Barrett and Burke are open for in-person services Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, while Duncan is open for in-person services Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Local history/special collections are open by appointment only Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, while the Law Library is open by appointment Monday to Friday.

All Alexandria Library locations will be closed on Friday, June 18 in observance of Juneteenth. Curbside services will not be offered on this day.
