The Art League To Bring Back In-Person Classes In April
The Art League will offer over 40 classes and will continue virtual offerings via Zoom.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Art League, a nonprofit based at Alexandria's Torpedo Factory Art Center, is bringing back in-person art classes in the spring.
In-person classes will start on Monday, April 5 with adherence to CDC, Alexandria Health Department and Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Over 40 classes will be offered, covering a range of art forms, including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, metal jewelry design, stained glass, and steel furniture design and construction.
"We can't wait to welcome back our students to in-person classes at The Art League!" said Suzanne Bethel, executive director of The Art League, in a statement. "While we love our Zoom sessions and all the new inspiration and creativity they've sparked, we missed that magic that happens in our classrooms. We're eager for this fresh start and new phase for our in-person art students and teachers."

Classes will be held at The Art League Madison Annex at 305 Madison Street. Online course offerings via Zoom video conferencing will also continue.
Instructor Lisa Semerad noted that The Art League will conduct health screenings and temperature checks as well as a mask requirement. Semerad said it will be easy for all participants to be six to ten feet apart. She is teaching Drawing and Painting Projects, which benefits from viewing her students' artwork in person.

"I wouldn't be there if I didn't feel safe," said Semerad. "I am hearing from my students that they are looking forward to getting out of the house, seeing classmates, and returning to the artwork that gives them joy."
Registration is open for spring courses. For a full list of in-person and online course offerings, visit www.theartleague.org.
