Bank Robbery Suspect In Custody In Old Town Alexandria

Alexandria Police are actively investigating a bank robbery that happened on South Washington Street.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Police have a suspect in custody after a bank robbery in Old Town Wednesday morning.

Police say the robbery happened around 8:40 a.m. at Eagle Bank in the 200 block of South Washington Street. Police say the suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded money. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries.

Officers took the suspect into custody minutes after the robbery. Dagmawee Dawit, 26, was charged with robbery. No other suspects are believed to be involved.
