Bowl America Getting Sold To New York-Based Bowlero
Bowl America operates eight bowling alleys in Northern Virginia and one in suburban Maryland and has annual sales of $24 million.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria-based Bowl America is getting bought by Bowlero Corp., the largest operator of bowling alleys in North America, the companies said Friday.
Bowl America operates eight bowling alleys in Northern Virginia and one in suburban Maryland. The company, which also owns locations in Baltimore, Richmond and Jacksonville, Florida, opened its first bowling area in the D.C. area in 1958.
The acquisition is subject to approval by Bowl America shareholders and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2021.

Neither company disclosed the financial terms of the deal. New York City-based Bowlero is a privately held company.
Bowlero owns more than 300 bowling centers and the Professional Bowlers Association. Bowl America has annual sales of more than $24 million.

Under the merger agreement, Bowl America would become a privately held company owned by Bowlero, and its stock would no longer be traded on any public exchange.
