Civil Air Patrol cadets clean up

Challenger 1 Cadet Squadron combines geocaching with park cleanup activities

Alexandria, VA -- On August 4th, 2019 members from Challenger 1 Cadet Squadron in Alexandria were joined by members of Arlington Composite Squadron and braved the heat to participate in a combined geocaching and park cleanup event at Chinquapin Park.

Cache In Trash Out events are a wonderful way to participate in geocaching activities and give back to local communities by cleaning up trash and litter. As an added bonus, participants were able to apply their knowledge of GPS and Emergency Services Ground Team skills in order to find the caches. Overall, the combined group cleared out 6 bags worth of trash while locating all 5 geocaches.

Challenger 1 Cadet Squadron serves the City of Alexandria and conducts aerospace education programs, ground and airborne emergency services support, and leadership and character development programs for young people and is currently recruiting new cadet members from 12-18, and adults from 18 years of age, no experience required. The squadron meets every Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Nannie J Lee Recreation Center located at 1108 Jefferson St, Alexandria, VA 22314.
