Deadline Extended for Nominations for Salute to Women Awards

Due to the inclement weather, the Alexandria Commission for Women has extended the nomination deadline for the 35th Annual Salute to Women Awards to Friday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m.

The awards, which recognize women, men and youth who have made a significant impact on women in Alexandria, will be presented at the annual reception to be held Thursday, March 26 at 6 p.m. at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The 10 awards recognize achievement in areas including health and safety, legislative advocacy, lifetime achievement and providing opportunities for youth. Individuals may nominate more than one person and nominees from prior years may be nominated again. For most categories, those honored need not be residents of Alexandria; however, their efforts must be focused within the City of Alexandria.

Nominations may be submitted online at Salute to Women or hand delivered to the Department of Community and Human Services, Attention Melissa Villacorta, 2525 Mt. Vernon Ave., Alexandria, VA 22301.
