Family Nature Walk Ideas to Support Neighborhood Wildlife

Support the Wildlife Rescue League's mission to care for sick, injured and orphaned local wildlife.

Taking a family #walk this week? A great activity for kids and kids-at-heart is looking out for wildlife around your #neighborhood. You’re likely to see more baby squirrels and birds this time of year.

If you happen to see a sick, injured or orphaned wild animal you may be inclined to help - and the best way to do that is to visit the @Wildlife Rescue League’s (WRL) website for guidance on what to do in any circumstance. Oftentimes you’ll find that leaving a growing baby bird alone is best for it and its family!

If you’re wondering how else you might support these animals, consider donating to the WRL through Alexandria’s Spring2ACTion campaign by Wednesday, April 15. The WRL protects Virginia’s native wildlife by connecting and coordinating care for local wildlife, and your donations go toward funding transportation, its animal care helpline (free to the public!), and medical equipment.
