Honest Tea Founder, Banned Books and Caramel Apples

A quick look at the week ahead in Old Town Alexandria:

Honest Business — Tom Gardner of The Motley Fool will interview Seth Goldman, president and CEO of Bethesda-based Honest Tea, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Old Town Theater (815 ½ King St.). Goldman will share lessons and insights from his new book, “Mission in a Bottle: The Honest Guide to Doing Business Differently—and Succeeding.” General admission tickets are $25. Students receive a $10 discount. Other ticket packages include a copy of Goldman’s book, which is in comic book form. More information at the Old Town Theater website.

Banned Book Read-out — Alexandria’s Athenaeum hosts this event, where participants will read segments of their favorite banned books to bring attention to the issue of censorship. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. (201 Prince St.). For more information, call 703-548-0035.

City Council — Alexandria’s governing body will have its second legislative meeting of the month at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. You can take a look at the meeting’s docket on the city’s website.

How do you like them apples? — Stop into Old Town Alexandria’s the Sugar Cube confectionery (1218 King St.) to indulge in one (or more) of its seasonal caramel apples, which just returned to stock last week. Apples are available Thursday through Sunday this fall
