Schylr Greggs of Medidata tells Patch how the clinical research company is improving clients' quality of life.

Medidata is a leading global provider of cloud-based solutions for clinical research in life sciences. Their mission is to provide a clinical development platform that will help clients bring new medicines, treatments and products to waiting patients sooner.
Patch caught up with Schylr Greggs, director of Industry Relations & Strategic Partnerships at Medidata to learn more about the company's 20 years of work in the life science industry:

Greggs: I was attracted to this line of work because I wanted to make a difference in the health of individuals. I would sum up our work as speeding up treatments for patients. Next year, Medidata will be celebrating 20 years of work in the life science industry.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?

Greggs: I think the hardest part of my job is perhaps educating individuals on the work that we do versus the others in market. Often times, many have preconceived thoughts and it’s addressing those gaps of knowledge to where our value is articulated in a sound manner.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
The most satisfying part of my job is that we aren't picking winners and losers in the pharma and medical device industry. We truly want what’s best for the patient to get to the market in a safe and expedient way to save lives or improve their quality of life!
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited
about?
Greggs: Currently, I am excited for the opportunity for our company to (1) provide insights on clinical data and real world data for the development of better treatments and (2) work with companies to enhance access for patients via virtual clinical trials.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?
Greggs: As a graduate of Marymount University’s M.B.A. /Health Care Management Program, Marymount reinforced the idea of being “bold” with my ideas in the work environment. During the program I was not only challenged by my peers but also by my professors on my stances. A learning space like this forces you to refine your strategic positioning and to stand on what you believe.
Find your “bold” at the Marymount Graduate Open House, March 2, at 10 a.m.
