'I Love My Dad': VA Father's Day Photos, Messages
In celebration of Father's Day, we asked for your father-son photos. Here are ones of dad with their kids sent in by Virginia Patch readers.

While we owe Dad a debt of gratitude every day, Sunday, June 17, is Father's Day. In celebration, we asked for your favorite father-son photos. We received some from readers that looked like dad and his mini-me, and others that show dads and their adoring daughters, and a father reunited with his family after a year's military deployment.
Here are some of our favorites from across northern Virginia, that Patch readers shared:

'An Amazing Teacher' | Reston/Herndon Father's Day Photos

Check out the above photo of a special moment on the back deck for a family in Reston, taken just a couple of days ago. "This photo is of my husband Jack and daughter Ella (4 1/2 years old)," writes Maureen. "Jack is the most fun playmate a kid could have, and is an amazing teacher! Every night before bed he plays music and she dances around and sings."

This lookalike duo from Reston are Brendan and Aidan O'Connell. This picture was taken while the two were on vacation in the Outer Banks back in 2002.

Area resident Amir R. Eftekhari forwarded us this photo. "Here is a picture of me and my Dad at last season's Redskins vs Cowboys game at FedEx Field in October 2017. He travels a lot and surprised me with tickets to the game. We always wear the same hats on football Sundays and always talk about life, school and sports. I love my Dad. —Adan Eftekhari, Fairfax City, VA."
Soldier Reunites With Kids: Springfield Father's Day Photo

Springfield resident Sarah Fondriest shared this memorable photo of her husband, 1st Lt. Brian K. Staton, returning home from a one-year deployment in Kuwait last year at National Airport. The photo shows him greeting his kids, Little Brian, who was eight months old when their father was deployed, and Carmela, who was three. Fondriest said the anticipation was high for his return, since being away from his kids for one year had been a long time.
