WASHINGTON, DC — Snow is expected to continue falling throughout the evening on Sunday, Jan. 13, possibly until midnight, with a winter storm warning in effect until midnight for The District and much of northern Virginia. Early reports show that widespread amounts of 5 to 7 inches of snow have already fallen.
Some area school districts — including Fairfax County, Fredericksburg, Prince William County, Manassas City, Stafford County and Spotsylvania County — have already canceled Monday classes. So far, it appears that Chantilly and Oakton have the highest snowfall, with 9 inches reported as of about 5:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. In addition, Vienna, Bailey's Crossroads and Washington, D.C, all registered 8 inches by late afternoon, while 7 inch amounts were recorded in Alexandria, Manassas, and Leesburg.
