Old Town Beer, Wine And Dog Festival To Happen In Alexandria

Dogs, food and drinks? We couldn't ask for more from this Alexandria festival.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Drinks and dogs are the key to a perfect summer day in Alexandria. The Old Town Beer, Wine and Dog Festival happening on Saturday, Aug. 17 gets that. The event is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Waterfront Park, 1A Prince Street.

The festival lets guests try local craft beer, wine and food while enjoying live music and activities with dogs. If you don't have a dog, you can meet sheltered or fostered dogs looking for their forever homes.

There will be a fenced areas so you can let your dogs loose your dogs to play with volunteers and other dogs. Due to the anticipated heat, the event will provide tents, water bowls and ice baths for dogs.

The festival website states, "Our goal is to provide an alternative to the typical adoption procedure by combining food, drinks, and dogs in a social environment. Whether you are adopting a dog or not, come help socialize the community’s sheltered and fostered dogs that are looking for a future home!"

Tickets are $10 and include entry for a dog. Proceeds benefit local animal welfare leagues and fostering organizations like Lucky Dog Animal Rescue.
