Pedestrian Dies After Vehicle Crash In Old Town Alexandria

Alexandria Police said the crash happened at a South Washington Street intersection.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A pedestrian died after a crash in Old Town on Friday, Nov. 20, according to Alexandria Police.

The crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian happened around 4 p.m. at South Washington and Wilkes Streets. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and later died of his injuries. He was identified as Justin Benedict, 55, of Alexandria.

The driver stayed on scene to cooperate with police. The police department's Crash Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the crash. Witnesses to this crash or anyone with video footage are asked to contact Officer Nancy Gordon at 571-289-6794.
