ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The Pendleton store, carrying clothing, blankets and throws, as well as bags and accessories, will close its doors March 28 in Alexandria after 33 years, according to store employees.

The retailer will maintain a presence in Virginia with its outlet store in Williamsburg and nearby at the National Museum of Natural History in DC.

The corporate-owned store at 417 King Street is selling items at a discount including men and women's clothing and accessories. The company's wholesale business accounts for half of its sales, while its direct-to-consumer business (sales from its stores, website and catalog) make up the other half, according to a recent report by OregonLive.com.
