Person Shot In Alexandria Monday Morning: Police
Police say the victim went to another location to call for help after being shot.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Police are investigating a shooting Monday morning.
The shooting occurred in the 1100 block of Quaker Hill Drive around 6 a.m. The victim was shot multiple times and went to the 7-Eleven in the 3000 block of Duke Street to call 911. The victim was taken to the hospital. There was no initial information on a suspect.
The incident comes as police continue to investigate an increase in shots fired incidents during 2020. There were 55 confirmed shots fired incidents in 2020, compared to 37 in 2019. Police observed a spike from September to November and increased patrols in targeted areas.

"We are following every lead and working tirelessly to disrupt this criminal activity," said Police Chief Michael Brown in a statement. "We want to assure our community that this remains a top priority for the Police Department."
The police department is working with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on the investigations. To date, police have carried out 90 search warrants in connection with these incidents, made 20 arrests and recovered 17 guns and other evidence. Police say additional information cannot be released to the public "to avoid jeopardizing the active investigations into these incidents."
