Regular Parking Fees Return After Metro Shutdown In Alexandria
Lower parking rates took effect during weekends and weekday evenings in city-owned garages and lots.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Once the Metro shutdown ends after Sept. 8, regular parking rates at Alexandria's city-owned parking garages and lots.
City Council approved lower parking fees for weekends and weekday evenings for the entirety of the Metro shutdown. The Courthouse Garage at 111 South Pitt Street has a $1 flat rate on weekends and evenings, while other city garages and lots have a $2 flat rate. These other garages include the Market Square Garage, 200 North Union Street Garage, Thompson's Alley Garage, Cameron/St. Asaph Lot, Henry/Patrick Lot and Union Station Lot.
The rate resuming after the Metro shutdown is $2.50 per hour or a maximum $5 (except at Union Station) after 5 p.m. on weekdays and on weekdays. There were no changes to the weekday parking rates before 5 p.m. — $2.50 per hour or a maximum $10. The Union Station lot has a maximum $15 rate.

The Braddock Road, King Street-Old Town, Eisenhower Avenue, Van Dorn Street, Huntington and Franconia-Springfield Metro stations are on schedule to reopen on Sept. 9 after being closed since May 25. Metro's contractor is performing finishing work and testing for the platform rehabilitation project.
