'The 39 Steps,' King Street Bike Lanes and Halloween

“The 39 Steps” — Adapted from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 film of the same name, “The 39 Steps” opened Saturday and runs through Nov. 16 at The Little Theatre of Alexandria (600 Wolfe St.). The play follows dashing Richard Hannay and his heroic efforts to solve the riddle of The 39 Steps while staying a step ahead of Nazi spies. This two-time Tony Award-winner features four actors playing more than 100 roles. Tickets are available for purchase online.
Spooky Spirits Cocktail Party — The Hour Cocktail Collection (1015 King St.) is celebrating the creation of Halloween spirits at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 with a special cocktail-making demonstration from the bartenders of Vermilion restaurant. Tickets are $25 and the event includes a 15-percent discount off all vintage drinkware available at the shop. King Street Traffic Calming and Bike Lanes Project — A second meeting to discuss Alexandria’s plan to narrow the lanes on King Street between Russell Road and Janney’s Lane and install bicycle lanes in both directions. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Maury Elementary (600 Russell Rd.).

America — This London rock band rides into The Birchmere (3701 Mount Vernon Ave.) on a horse with no name for a 7:30 p.m. show on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Tickets are $69.50. More information available on the Birchmere website.
