5 Things for Tuesday, Sept. 17 in and around Old Town Alexandria:

Try Transit Week — Stop by the Alexandria Transit Store (near the corner of Duke Street and Diagonal Road) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily for free giveaways all week. On Tuesday, those who take the train or DASH bus into the store can enter for a chance to win a free DASH pass and receive a free 2GB flash drive all day. Changes at Restaurant Eve — Executive Chef and co-owner Cathal Armstrong announced Monday in The Washington Post that, beginning Oct. 21, the top-flight restaurant will ditch its bar-bistro-tasting room format and become one formal, 90-seat dining stop. Armstrong told the Post the change will “reduce the quantity and increase the quality” of food and service. More information in The Post’s Going Out Guide.

Mother Goose Time — Stop by Barrett Library (717 Queen St.) at 10:15 a.m. for songs, rhymes, games and other interactive fun for toddlers. No registration required. Activities are aimed for children age 12-23 months.

A Dog Walks into a Bar — Bring your pooch to Jackson 20 (480 King St.) at 5 p.m. for Doggie Yappy Hour, a tradition unlike any other.

Piano Man — Morrison House (116 S. Alfred St.) is hosting its Tuesday sing-along in its piano bar featuring Bob Smith and friends. Doors open at 6 p.m.
