ALEXANDRIA, VA -- A 26 year-old woman driving a Ford Explorer owned by the D.C. Housing Authority Police Department led police on a high-speed chase Tuesday night, crashing in Alexandria after trying to ram a police car, according to Virginia State Police (VSP).
VSP sent out an update Wednesday afternoon: The Virginia State Police have charged Jessica M. Pierce, 26, of Stafford, with one felony count of eluding police, one felony count of unauthorized use of a vehicle, one felony count of grand larceny, reckless driving and one misdemeanor count of giving false identification to law enforcement. The charges resulted from Pierce’s crash in the City of Alexandria.
The chase began in DC, crossing the 14th Street Bridge onto I-395 in Virginia, where officers from the Virginia State Police began to assist the Metropolitan DC Police Department.
At some point the suspect ended up on King Street and was on King when she veered off to try to re-enter I-395 heading northbound when police were able to stop her, police said. It was there that she crashed at about 5:35 p.m., when a Metro PD cruiser was able to pin the Ford Explorer she was driving against a Jersey wall, according to police. Police say she rammed a marked police cruiser with the stolen police SUV.
