$20M Surgical Expansion Project Unveiled At Reston Hospital

RESTON, VA — Reston Hospital Center's surgery department is going to get a $20 million makeover, according to a release.

The expansion and enhancement of Reston Hospital's surgery service, which already boasts one of Northern Virginia's most comprehensive robotic-assist surgery program, will add four new and larger operating rooms and modernize existing suites. In total, the surgical facility will see a renovation of more than 22,000 square feet.

“This is an important investment in the growth of Reston Hospital’s advanced surgical program,” said John Deardorff, chief executive officer of the HCA Healthcare Northern Virginia market and Reston Hospital Center, in a release. “This infusion of capital will upgrade our surgical capability and capacity to help deliver a world-class surgical experience for our patients and surgical care teams.”

With the adoption of emerging technologies and innovative surgical approaches, Reston Hospital aims to improve patient outcomes by reducing hospital stays and shortening recovery times. The additional capacity will allow the hospital to treat more patients in a number of surgical areas, including complex spine care, orthopedic care, and minimally invasive surgery.

The $20 million investment in surgical service is the latest enhancement project Reston Hospital is undertaking. Earlier this month, the hospital announced a $70 million investment for the construction of a freestanding emergency room in the Tysons Corner area, an expansion of the inpatient rehabilitation center, and surgical technology enhancements, as well as other renovations and modernizations of the hospital's facilities.
