Anna and the Apocalypse Zombie Christmas Party at the Smithsonian

Calling all zombie/Christmas lovers! Celebrate both the holiday and the undead at the Lockheed Martin IMAX theater this Thursday!

A new movie is being released on December 7th, in the midst of all the Hallmark Christmas movies on TV and the Oscar contenders, and it fills a surprising and timely niche. Anna and the Apocalypse is the musical, apocalyptic, zombie-filled, Christmas movie you never knew you needed.

The Smithsonian is having a sneak-peek and holiday party to celebrate. Did you know that big, fancy theater has events? It's been happening a while. Explains Elyse Roland, Smithsonian Enterprises Program Development Manager, "Smithsonian Theaters creates these film events based on popular repertory films or exciting new releases. Successful events have included a Wes Anderson Retrospective, an opening night party for the film Crazy Rich Asians, a month long 80s film festival, and most recently a sold out 1920s Speakeasy themed party for the new Fantastic Beasts film."

This event not will not only feature the film and a party, but in attendance and taking part in an after-screening Q&A is Anna star Ella Hunt. To appeal to those who love a good holiday walker, you can expect everything from zombie themed refreshments, music, photo-ops, decorating gingerDEAD cookies, a zombie make-up station, to even pics with a zombie Santa.

Though events like these come at a price tag of $50 or more, the museum strives to inject creativity and make it them memorable for attendees. Of the Smithsonian Roland says, "We strive to create unique events with great refreshments, Instagram worthy photo-ops, music, dancing, games, unique vendors, viewing film relevant museum artifacts, and fun giveaways—experiences that you won’t find at other movie theaters."

A zombie apocalypse threatens the sleepy town of Little Haven - at Christmas - forcing Anna and her friends to fight, slash and sing their way to survival, facing the undead in a desperate race to reach their loved ones. But they soon discover that no one is safe in this new world, and with civilization falling apart around them, the only people they can truly rely on are each other.
