Best Places To Work: Reston's Counter Threat Solutions Makes List

Reston-based Counter Threat Solutions LLC, a government contractor, was named one of the best places to work in 2021 by Inc. magazine.

RESTON, VA — Reston’s Counter Threat Solutions LLC, a consulting firm for government agencies, was named one of the best places to work in 2021 by Inc. magazine.

Based upon the results of anonymous employee responses to an independent research firm survey, Inc. selects companies with high marks for outstanding company culture, leadership, operations, compensation and benefits.

The 2021 list compiled data from thousands of firms in consideration, and Inc. singled out 429 companies this year. Counter Threat Solutions was the only company based in Reston to make the magazine’s list of best places to work.

GuidePoint Security in Herndon and Glassman Wealth Services in Vienna were among the other companies in Northern Virginia to make the list.

Counter Threat Solutions CEO Theresa Keith said she has a “personal ethos of treating every employee like family,” a belief that helped the company make it through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our leadership team made sacrifices to ensure that our employees continued to receive full pay and benefits, even when COVID curtailed our ability to provide service to and receive income from our clients,” Keith said Friday in a statement.

During the pandemic, Keith said the company prioritized its focus on the health and safety of its employees.

Along with ensuring its clients’ needs were met, Counter Threat Solutions conducted stress-relieving, family-friendly online games and competitions.

This is the first time the company has made the Inc. list of best places to work in the nation. In 2020, Counter Threat Solutions earned a spot on the Washington Business Journal's list of best places to work in the D.C. area.

Counter Threat Solutions said its employee numbers are now higher than its pre-pandemic levels by 12 percent, even accounting for the attrition the company experienced over the past year.

"The definition of a positive workplace has changed drastically over the past year," said Inc. magazine editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk. "Companies could no longer reply on stocked fridges and other onsite perks once work went remote, so, this year's list is even more important as it reveals organizations that continue to enrich the lives of its employees amid a pandemic."

Founded six years ago, Counter Threat Solutions provides consulting services to the U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence agencies.
