Dress Like A Diva For Free Thanks To Diva Central Dress Drive

Middle and high school students will be able to dress in style for their prom or spring dance for free via the Diva Central Dress Drive.

RESTON, VA -- Got a formal gown that's just sitting in your closet collecting dust? Why not donate it to the Reston Community Center's 18th annual Diva Central Dress Drive?

RCC will be collecting items from Feb 1-29, at its Hunters Woods and Lake Anne locations, according to a press release. And it's not just dresses they need. RCC is also accepting donations of jewelry, shoes, handbags and shawls. All donations are tax-deductible and can be dropped off Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

Thanks to the donations, middle and high school students in Reston and surrounding communities will be able to dress in style for free for upcoming prom and spring dances.

“The cost of attending school dances is marching steadily upward. RCC’s Diva Central is an offering to our community to help local teens find the perfect outfit for a dance without the added expense. From an environmental perspective, it’s a great chance to recycle clothing that is seldom worn more than a handful of times,” said LaTanja Jones, RCC outreach and collaboration director, in the release. “Donating these gently used items is the perfect way to extend their life and the planet’s.”

The 2020 dress and accessories giveaway will take place Saturday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at RCC Lake Anne, 1609-A Washington Plaza in Reston. All local middle and high school students will be able to "shop" for free. No registration is required and door prizes and refreshments will be provided.
