Early Voting For Democratic Primary Starts In Reston

RESTON, VA — Early in-person voting in Fairfax County for the June 8 Democratic Primary gets underway on Friday, April 23 and runs though Saturday, June 5. Absentee ballots will also be sent out on April 23 to everyone whose applications have been received by then.

Voters will be choosing which Democratic Party candidates will be on the ballot for the Nov. 2 election in several statewide races, including attorney general, lieutenant governor, and governor. The Republican Party in Virginia will be choosing its candidates during a May 8 convention.

Early, in-person voting will be open April 23 through June 5, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; and on Saturday, May 29 and June 5, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Any registered Fairfax County voter can vote at any of the following in-person voting centers:

Voting Hours

  • April 23-May 29: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • June 1-5: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday, June 5, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

All of the voting centers will be closed on Monday, May 31 in observance of Memorial Day.

The deadline in Fairfax County for requesting an application to vote by mail is 5 p.m., on Friday, May 28. Applications received after April 23 and before the deadline will be sent out as they are received.

Voters will need to return their mail-in ballots by 7 p.m., on June 8. They can either drop them off in person or by mail by the June 8 deadline.

All in-person voters and those dropping off ballots are required to follow CDC COVID-19 guidance by wearing a mask or face covering and practicing safe social distancing.
