Friends Of Reston Holds Fundraiser To Send Children To Camp
Friends of Reston launched a fundraising campaign, with a goal of raising $15,000 to send economically disadvantaged children to camp.
RESTON, VA — Friends of Reston has launched its annual fundraising campaign, with a goal of raising $15,000 to send economically disadvantaged children to Reston Association camps this summer.
Donations to the campaign can be made online or by check to the Friends of Reston Camp Scholarship Fund. Each child accepted into the Reston Camps scholarship program receives tuition, tee shirts and transportation.
Over the past 20 years, the volunteer board of directors of Friends of Reston has provided funding for hundreds of children to attend Reston Camps. For more than 40 years, Reston Camps have provided children with a fun and safe way to explore Reston's natural environment and its recreational opportunities.

“This year, more than ever, children need the opportunity to meet new friends, explore their community, and have fun while learning new skills — Reston Camps provides this, and more,” Friends of Reston Executive Director Kia Cole-Hines said in a statement Friday.
Red’s Table, a restaurant at South Lakes Village Center, is helping to raise money for the campaign. From now through July, diners at Red’s Table can contribute to the Friends of Reston Camp Scholarship Fund by rounding up their payment for meals.

Donations to the Friends of Reston Camp Scholarship Fund can be made online at www.friendsofreston.org with credit card, designating “Camp Scholarships” in the payment notes. The public can also send a check by mail payable to Friends of Reston, 11450 Glade Drive, Reston, VA 20191. Note “Camp Scholarships” on the memo line.

Friends of Reston was established in 1999 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to support Reston Association through charitable, educational, and scientific activities.
