Gina Marie Lundy, 46, passed away on June 19, 2015 at her home in Reston, Virginia. She was born on March 29, 1969 in Harbor City, California to Thomas A. Lundy and Diane Jones Lundy. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona in August 1969.
Gina graduated from Tucson High School in 1986. After high school she attended Yavapai Community College and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona and graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in 1991. She earned her Master of Education Degree in Adult Education from Colorado State University in 1995 and a Master of Science degree in Military Studies, Air University, Montgomery, Alabama in 2005.

Gina began her military career as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in January 1992. Her initial assignment was Combat Crew Commander, Flight Commander and certified Missile Crew Instructor on the ICBM Nuclear Weapons Crew in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
She was a Reserve Officer Training Instructor in Tucson, Arizona from May 1996 to July 1999. From this position, she transferred to U.S. Space Command/NORAD in Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she served as a Space Control and Orbital Analyst, Chief of Special Technical Operations, and Director, Unified Space Vault from August 1999 to July 2004.

In July 2004, Gina attended U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College in Montgomery, Alabama in the Advanced Degree Program. In July 2005, she relocated to Washington, D.C., where she served as Chief of Mission and Policy Support in the Office of the Under Secretary of the Air Force. She also served as Chief, Legislative Affairs Branch in the National Reconnaissance Office in Chantilly, Virginia. In 2007, Gina was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
From April 2009 to June 2011, she served as a Special Assistant for Intelligence and Space in the Office of the Secretary of Defense in Washington, D.C., and returned to the National Reconnaissance Office in Chantilly, Virginia as Deputy Director in the Office of Strategic Communications for Congressional and Public Affairs until she retired from the Air Force in October 2012.
During her service in the Air Force, Gina was awarded a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, AF Outstanding Unit Award, Combat Readiness Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
After retiring from the Air Force, Gina was employed as Senior Director of Strategic Communications at United Launch Alliance in Washington, D.C. From March 2013 until her death, she served as Vice President of Government Relations and Corporate Communications for PIXIA Corporation in Reston, Virginia.
Gina enjoyed purchasing and remodeling homes in the various locations where she was stationed during her military career. She frequently participated in water activities including fishing, snorkeling, boating and jet skiing.
Gina was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Nrania Rose Canedo, her maternal grandfather, James Wren Jones. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Thomas A. and Melva Lundy; her mother, Diane Jones Lundy; her sister, Christina Lundy; and her niece, Morgan R. Lundy, all of whom reside in Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Helen Jones of Gooding, Idaho; as well as her maternal aunts, Jocelyn Brown (Darwin Priebe) of Gresham, Oregon and Rebecca Diebert (Ken) of McCall, Idaho.
Service at Ft. Myer, Post Chapel is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 23. Interment with Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery will immediately follow the service.
