Herndon Village Network Shreds It!

Getting Rid of Old Papers? Done!

Spring cleaning in Herndon is well under way! Over 85 families brought approximately 5,000 pounds of old bills and other papers for secure destruction during a free shred event sponsored by Herndon Village Network (HVN). Best known for providing transportation to area senior citizens, the local nonprofit also organizes fun events and services. The shred event is just one example of the many ways in which HVN responds to community needs.

“When talking with Herndon Senior Center staff, HVN Board members learned that many seniors needed help with disposing of old papers in a secure manner,” explained Penny Halpern, Board President. “We made a special effort to help senior citizens get their papers to the shred event, and we’re thrilled that so many families took advantage of it.”

Herndon Village Network thanks the many partners, volunteers, and businesses that supported the event:

Herndon Village Network (HVN) is the local village nonprofit serving senior citizens. For a one-time $20 registration fee, seniors have access to unlimited private transportation on weekdays and weekends, day and night. This independence makes visiting the doctor, going grocery shopping, visiting friends and family, etc. easier, and—with HVN’s friendly, vetted drivers—much more fun.
