Lake Anne Plans, RCC Forum and Beer & BBQ
What you need to know for the week of Sept. 16.

1. Learn more about Lake Anne Plan - Representatives from Republic Land Development will be on hand at an open house-style community meeting, 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Reston Community Center Lake Anne.
Republic was selected after a Request For Proposal to redevelop the 16-acre Crescent Apartments site and the area around Lake Anne Plaza. They are envisioning a mixed-use development adding about 50,000 square feet of office space' about 1,000 homes (condos, apartments and townhouses) and other improvements. Click here to read more.
Republic will also show their plans to the Reston Association Design Review Board Tuesday evening at RA Headquarters, 12001 Sunrise Valley Dr. That meeting is open to the public.
2. Hear from the RCC Candidates - Two incumbents and four newcomers are running for three open spots on the Reston Community Center Board of Governors. Come hear what they have to say at a candidates forum Wednesday at 7 p.m. at RCC-Hunters Woods.Â

3. Cutting the mural ribbon - The new Midtown Mural will be officially dedicated on Saturday at 10 a.m. Artist Dana Scheurer and her crew worked in the July heat to paint the stories-tall depiction of Reston. Come check it out as they cut the ribbon at 12015 New Dominion Pkwy.
4. Latino Festival Fun - Saturday is Latino Day 2013 at Southgate Community Center. Join the celebration with music, food, entertainment and family activities at 12125 Pinecrest Rd.
The event is free and from 1 to 5 p.m.
5. Mmm, Barbecue - There is a new event at Reston Town Center on Saturday: Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival.
Your ticket gets you unlimited beer and bourbon tastings from master distillers, talks and seminars with distillers to share their methods with you, an array of tasty BBQ vendors to sample, as well as live music, cigar smoking, artisan booth shopping and more.
