Maame Biney In The 1500 Meters: Time, TV Listing, And Other Info

After failing to get past the quarters in the 500 meters, the Reston speedskating phenom will attack the 1,500 meters on Saturday.

Reston teen Maame Biney had a difficult start to the Olympics after being bumped in the quarterfinals of her best speedskating event, the 500 meters. But she will have another chance to go for a medal on Saturday.

Biney will participate in the 1,500 meters, and the heats for that event start at 5 a.m. Eastern Time (7 p.m. in South Korea).

You can watch short-track speedskating coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 17 on NBCSN. Of course, you can also stream it live through the app if you want to get up early to watch it.

Unfortunately, Biney is a much longer shot for the 1,500 meters than she is for the 500 meters. Her quick start gave her an advantage during U.S. Olympic trials, but that won't matter as much in a longer race.

The normally bubbly 18-year-old, who grew up skating at SkateQuest here in Reston, reportedly was in tears after the event, knowing she'd likely have to wait another four years to compete for a medal.

However, in the Olympics anything can happen, and she'll get a chance of redemption starting this Saturday.
