Metro Silver Line Extension Gets Tentative Opening Date
The extension of the Silver Line to Dulles Airport and Loudoun County has faced delays.

DULLES, VA — The Silver Line extension for the DC Metro has a new opening date — at least if no more delays happen until that time. Mark your calendars for mid-July 2020, WTOP reported.
The Silver Line extension was split into two phases. The first phase, which opened in July 2014, extended the rail past East Falls Church to five new stations: McLean, Tysons Corner, Greensboro, Spring Hill and Wiehle-Reston East. The second phase currently under construction will connect the Metrorail system to Dulles International Airport and Loudoun County. The new six stations will be: Reston Town Center, Herndon, Innovation Center, Dulles Airport, Loudoun Gateway and Ashburn.

Construction at what will be the “Ashburn Station,“ the new end of the Metro Silver Line. Today we learned this & five other new stations, including Dulles Airport, are expected to open next July. Originally they were expected to open by this year but there have been delays. pic.twitter.com/OsFIiye6QZ
