Nancy Gilpin Robertson, 88

Robertson passed away quietly at her home in Reston Nov. 7.

Mrs. Nancy Gilpin Robertson, 88, passed away quietly at her home in Reston, Virginia on Monday, November 7, 2016. She was born Nancy Arthington Gilpin on August 17, 1928 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Her husband of 49 years, Rolfe Robertson, Jr., preceded her in death in 1999.

Nancy completed her secondary education at the Shipley school in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania in 1945. She received a bachelor of arts degree in child psychology from Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York in 1949. She lived in Fairfax, Virginia for 38 years where she raised her six children.

For the last 15 years Nancy resided at Stratford House condominiums in Reston, Virginia where she met many new and beloved friends who joined her in her love of bridge, opera, entertaining and current events. A woman of many talents and a sharp wit, Nancy was a voracious reader and lover of crossword puzzles. One of Nancy's favorite places to be was sitting oceanside on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

She often said she was lucky to be born in the greatest generation where she was fortunate enough to go from the model T to man on the moon to using the World Wide Web.

Nancy or "Baba" took tremendous pride in her family and is survived by her six children; Caroline Cross (Jack) of Manassas Virginia, Peyton Procaccini (Joe) of Easton, Maryland, Rolfe Robertson, III of Saint George Utah, Nancy Mcnerney (Marty) of McLean, Virginia, Charlotte Kettler (Bob)of Mclean, Virginia and Wyndham Robertson (Buffy) of Oakton, Virginia, 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Nancy Robertson will take place at 11 AM on Friday, November 11, 2016, at Metropolitan Memorial Methodist Church, 3401 Nebraska Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20016.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Nancy's name.
