NBA Superstar Grant Hill Returns To Reston
The basketball legend was honored at South Lakes High School by having his number retired.

RESTON, VA -- Grant Hill was a seven-time NBA all-star in the 1990s and 2000s, and had his No. 33 retired by the legendary basketball program at Duke University. Now, South Lakes High School here in Reston has retired the No. 32 he wore as a Seahawk all those years ago, a ceremony Hill himself showed up to be a part of.
Hill was back at his high school gym on Friday after the Seahawks beat West Springfield and was able to soak in his old stomping grounds, while talking with locals about how things have changed, according to a Washington Post report.
“The last thing on my mind was the NBA or college, I just wanted to play here at South Lakes. That was what I wanted to do,” Hill said according to the Post. “It was a different time . . . you spent your Friday nights watching high school sports and that was entertainment for a whole community, so I just wanted to play at South Lakes and that was pretty much it.”

Hill chose to wore No. 32 because it was the number of 1982 SLHS graduate Michael Jackson who had won a national title with Georgetown.
After South Lakes, it was a dream NBA career for Hill. He won two championships with Duke in 1991 and 1992, was named ACC player of the year in 1994, earned NBA co-rookie of the year honors in 1995, and enjoyed a very successful professional career before retiring in 2013. He played for the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Clippers.
