"New Trail recently celebrated its 2nd year and is one of the things I am giving thanks for this Thanksgiving. Its owner Liz has undoubtedly struggled to get to that 2nd anniversary this year but has always displayed a positive and encouraging attitude and a personal interest in her staff and clients.

"The in-person and virtual spin and strength classes have been a major contributor to my own good health and positive attitude this year. Liz quickly responded to pandemic shutdowns with creative ways to keep us engaged, including sending equipment home with people, initially posting free workout videos on her web site transitioning to providing ongoing live and recorded virtual sessions, and holding classes outdoors on Lake Anne Plaza with proper distancing and cleaning precautions enforced.

"New Trail also gives back to the community, supporting and collaborating with many other local businesses in the past two years through special events and promotions. Liz through New Trail helps even those who will never be customers by sponsoring fundraising and awareness events for several charitable organizations each year. This year they sponsored events for Downs Syndrome assistance, Cornerstones in Reston, and Reston’s Shelter House — there may have been others but these are the more recent ones I remember. Liz and New Trail provide a valuable service to Reston residents, actively contribute to their community, and serve others. I can’t think of many more attributes that would be needed to qualify as Reston’s Business of the Year." — Rebecca Waldrup
