Paving And Restriping Changes Proposed In Reston Area

Transportation officials propose the addition of bike lanes on portions of roads.

RESTON, VA — A number of road configuration changes in the Reston area are proposed as part of the 2021 Paving and Restriping Program by the Virginia Department of Transportation.

VDOT repaves hundreds of roads in Fairfax County each year. This program is done in collaboration with the Fairfax County Department of Transportation to implement parts of the county's comprehensive plan to improve traffic safety for different road users. Improvements added during repaving can include bike lanes, parking lanes, crosswalks and more. Paving work is expected to begin in April and finish in November.

VDOT and the Fairfax County Department of Transportation will hold a virtual meeting on the proposed paving and restriping changes for the Hunter Mill District on April 6 at 7 p.m. Residents can also provide online comments through April 20.
