Photo of the Day: Patch-Assisted Proposal
Boat owner says "I do" to Reston resident's request.

Back in August, Restonian J.P. Torres put a post on Reston Patch: Would a lake resident in Reston let him use their deck boat for an evening?
Â
Mary Prochnow, who lives on Lake Thoreau, answered the query.
Turns out Torres, a telecommunications executive, was planning a romantic evening - and proposing to his girlfriend, Kristin. The boat ride took place Wednesday night - and Kristen said yes!
Torres said the couple loves to spend time near the lakes in Reston.
"We like to jog around them, and one of our first dates was a picnic at the bench on Lake Thoreau," he told Patch in an email. Â "I thought it would be nice to revisit the lake for our anniversary, but I wanted to explore another way to enjoy it. Â
I thought it would be nice to celebrate our anniversary on a deck boat at sunset."
Â
But once a boat entered the plan, Torres said he decided to propose. He also created a sign from foam boards and wireless LED lights that said "will u marry me?"
The evening went just as planned, and Prochnow said she was excited to be part of the couple's big night.
This shows how Patch's boards can be used for all kinds of things. To post your thoughts, sale, ideas, questions, click here.
