Racing Returns for RSTA Swimmers

Saturday, June 12 marked the return of Reston Swim Team Association competition for the first time in nearly two years, and swimmers, coaches, and parents were thrilled to be back! Swimmers were more than ready to dive back into racing, despite the gray skies, drizzle, and chill in the air.

Two swimmers on the North Hills Hurricanes set new team records—Katie Cazenas in the Girls 15-18 50m Backstroke and Evan Zhang in the Boys 15-18 50m Butterfly. Cazenas beat the 10-year-old team record of 32.64 by 0.12 second, while Zhang topped his own team record of 27.62 (set in 2019) with a new record time of 26.80.

The RSTA Girls 15-18 200m Medley Relay league record of 2:11.41 was broken for the first time in fourteen years by the Glade Dolphins team of Megha Chava, Lauren Wagner, Clara Landeryou, and Sophia Landeryou, with a new record time of 2:10.91.
