RCC To Celebrate Earth Day With Scavenger Hunt, Family Activities
Leading up to the April 24 celebration at RCC Hunter Woods, families can take part in a photographic Scavenger Hunt.
RESTON, VA — Reston Community Center is celebrating Earth Day 2021 with free, family-friendly activities as part of the Green Reston program.
On Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., families can participate in a number of free activities on the Plaza at RCC Hunter Woods, including a photographic scavenger hunt. The family with the best photo will win a prize.
Those wishing to take do the scavenger hunt before April 24 can do so by snapping photos of the things that make Reston an environmentally vibrant community. Check out the Green Reston Scavenger Hunt checklist below. Be sure to use the #GreenReston hashtag when you share your photos on social media. Those who don't use social media can email their photos to: Latanja.Snelling@fairfaxcounty.gov. Here are some of the other Green Reston activities planned for the April 24 Green Reston event:
- Make Your Own Play-Dough: Bring a container so you can take your Play-Dough home.
- Start Your Own Herb Garden: Pick up all the supplies you need to create an herb garden in a biodegradable seed pot.
- Earth-Friendly Activity: Girl Scouts from the Nation's Capital will be offering an interactive earth-friendly activity and demonstration.
- Storytelling: From 10:30- 11:30 a.m., listen to an earth-friendly book that is fun for all ages. Storytelling will be followed by an accompanying craft.
Registration and mask-wearing are required for the April 24 Green Reston activities.
