Reston Association Board Seeks Candidates for Treasurer

The position of treasurer can be filled by an elected director, or by an additional person hired by the board.

The Reston Association Board (RA) is seeking candidates for the position of treasurer.

Elections are currently underway for several of the nine seats on the RA Board--namely, the directors of the North Point and Hunters Woods/Dogwood districts, an At-Large Director, and an Apartment Owners' Representative. Voting is taking place through April 3 online and by mail for all members of the association.

In addition to a hired CEO, the board also has a secretary and treasurer, which can either be elected directors, or can be additional persons selected by the board members.

According to RA staff, the duties of the treasurer are, in coordination with both the board and the professional staff, as follows:

• Monitor and report to the board as needed with respect to association funds and securities;

• Ensure that full and accurate financial records and books of account are kept and that all financial data are prepared;

• Coordinate regularly with the association’s chief financial officer;

• Serve as a voting member of the Fiscal Committee and Board Operations Committee; and

• Provide financial guidance, as needed, during monthly board meetings.

RA staff added that the typical time commitment associated with the position is approximately 15
hours per month.
