Reston Community Players Says Thanks With Virtual Concert Series
Every night in November, the Reston Community Players will be raising money for charity through a series of virtual concerts.
RESTON, VA — Since November is a month for giving thanks, the Reston Community Players (RCP) is thanking the community for its support by offering a month-long concert series.
Through a series of virtual mini concerts, RCP Gives Thanks will feature performances by some of the organization's familiar artists, while generating donations for both RCP and a trio of nonprofit groups around the Reston area.
The fundraising campaign will begin with a performance on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 8 p.m., on RCP’s Facebook page. Each night, viewers will experience uplifting stories of gratitude and performances by RCP artists.

“RCP Gives Thanks is our chance to show our gratitude and appreciation for the community that has sustained us for the past 54 years,” said Jolene Vettese, RCP’s president., in a release. “November is often a time to reflect on what we have in our lives that we are thankful for, and we’d like to share with our community what it is that we are thankful for.”
Donations collected throughout the month will help defray some of the fixed operating expenses that RCP still must pay, even while it has had to cancel productions due to the coronavirus pandemic. RCP will also share the proceeds collected via RCP Gives Thanks with three local nonprofits: the Shepherd’s Center, serving Oakton-Vienna-Reston-Herndon; LINK, Inc; and Cornerstones. Each nonprofit will be featured for 10 days of performances and will receive half of the donations during those days.
