Reston Fire Station Rallies Around Local Olympian Maame Biney
Fire Station 39 updated their sign to show support for the native speedskater.

RESTON, VA -- Reston native Maame Biney, 18, may be thousands of miles away in South Korea right now competing in the Olympics, but everyone here is still thinking of her -- including local firefighters.
Fire Station 39 in the North Point section of Reston posted a picture of their sign, which was updated to read, "Good luck Maame Biney and Team USA!"
Biney, a speedskater who was born in Ghana but came to the United States at a very young age, took her very first skate lessons at the age of 5 at SkateQuest in Reston, where a coach steered her into speedskating instead of figure skating.

Biney finished in second in the 500-meter short-track speedskating heat on Saturday, which was good enough to earn her a spot in the final 16. She may race as many as three more times on Tuesday as she bids for a gold medal.
