Reston Man Charged With Assaulting Arlington Police Officer

RESTON, VA — Arlington County Police charged a Reston man early Thursday morning for acting disorderly and assaulting a police officer at Crystal City restaurant, according to the daily crime report.

Officers responded around 12:50 a.m., for the report of a manacting disorderly inside a restaurantin the 400 block of 23rd Street S. An arriving officer made contact with an intoxicated man who was shouting at employees and patrons of the restaurant. The officer ordered the man to leave and tried to issue a banning notice at the request of the property manager. The man refused to follow direction and remained disorderly. The officer then attempted to arrest the man for public intoxication, but the man resisted, shoved and hit the officer, and then ran out of the restaurant. ACPD officers lost sight of him temporarily. Eventually, they found him in a vehicle nearby. The man tried to flee by putting the vehicle in reverse, but police convinced him to stop and exit the vehicle. They then took him into custody.

Police charged Seth Hauter, 28, of Reston, with assault and battery on law enforcement, drunk in public, obstruction of justice, and driving under the influence.
