Reston One Of DC Area's Hottest Neighborhoods: Report

Home prices continue to rise in the Reston area.

A new report claims that Reston is one of the hottest neighborhoods in the D.C. area.

Washington Business Journal gave Reston a score of 36.7, good enough for 12th place in their rankings. The sale price for homes in our area has increased by 8.4 percent.

The 2018 median sales price in Reston was $515,000, with an average price per square foot of $314 and a square foot percentage increase of 3.3 percent.

Marshall Heights in Southeast D.C. was named the hottest real estate market in the D.C. area with a score of 92.2. The sale price of the average home in that area has skyrocketed by 22 percent.

WBJ ranked every subdivision in the Greater Washington area by "the increase in median sales price so far this year compared to last year, the decrease in the number of days these houses sat on the market before being sold, and the increase in price per square foot," the report states.
