Reston Teen Eliminated In Olympic Speedskating Quarterfinal

Maame Biney failed to advance in the 500 meters, but she will have another chance on Saturday in the 1,500 meters.

RESTON, VA -- It was not to be for Reston native speedskater Maame Biney at the Winter Olympics in South Korea -- at least in the 500 meters. But all is not lost, as she'll have another chance to seek the podium on Saturday.

Biney failed to advance out of the 500-meter quarterfinal on Tuesday. She had qualified on Saturday by finishing in the top two in her heat.

She will be competing in the 1,500-meter speedskating race on Saturday morning.
