Reston's Stay-At-Home Chalk Art Event Encourages Creativity

Reston community members are encouraged to let their imaginations wander, while they stay at home due to the new coronavirus pandemic.

RESTON, VA – Reston community members are encouraged to let their imaginations wander, while they stay at home due to the new coronavirus pandemic, starting May 4 with the Stay-at-Home Chalk Art virtual event hosted by Public Art Reston.

Public Art Reston is working to provide a way to tap into the imagination and creativity of Reston residents while maintaining social distancing and adhering to the stay-at-home order. Starting May 4, each week will have a different theme that will be posted on Public Art Reston's social media accounts.

The virtual chalk art event is encouraging residents to find a safe place such as a driveway or sidewalk to create their chalk art.

The four themes include:

  • May 4: Fantasy – Let your imagination soar and create your own fantastical creature, people, place
  • May 11: Spring into nature
  • May 18: Favorite activities with your family
  • May 25: On Memorial Day, we celebrate military heroes. Draw your favorite hero.

Artists of all ages and skill levels, including children, families, businesses and organizations, are encouraged to participate. For more information, click here.
