RSTA Swimmers Splash Through Summer
Many records were broken at Reston Swim Team Association's fourth dual meets of the summer last Saturday.
RSTA swimmers were on fire in the pool as spectators witnessed eleven team records and one league record broken in the scorching heat on the morning of Saturday, June 29, 2019.
Matthew Fritz of the Lake Audubon Barracudas set a new league record in the Boys 15-18 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of 26.42 seconds, beating the previous record of 26.60 seconds set in 2017 by Casey Storch of the Lake Newport Lightning. This also established a new Lake Audubon team record in the event, which had previously stood at 26.85 seconds since 1989.
Evan J. Zhang of the North Hills Hurricanes topped his own team record in the Boys 15-18 50 Meter Breaststroke, that he set three weeks ago, by 0.29 seconds with a time of 31.45 seconds.

The Lake Newport Boys 11-12 100 Meter Medley Relay team of Michael Zhou, Henry Collins, David Egge, and Jason Tipler raced to a 1:05.95 finish, crushing the previous team record of 1:08.41 set in 1995. In addition, Jason Tipler and David Egge both beat the team record of 39.90 seconds set by Jason Tipler last week in the Boys 11-12 50 Meter Breaststroke, with times of 39.38 seconds and 39.66 seconds, respectively.

- Marco Anguizola set three new Boys 11-12 team records this week:
- 50 Meter Backstroke in 37.68 seconds, beating the record of 38.84 seconds he set last week
- 50 Meter Freestyle in 32.17 seconds, beating the record of 33.60 seconds he set two weeks ago
- 50 Meter Butterfly in 37.20 seconds, beating a record of 37.59 set in 2018
- Griffith Knowlton broke the team record he set last week in the Boys 11-12 50 Meter Breaststroke by 0.33 seconds, with a time of 44.50 seconds.
- Clara Landeryou broke her sister’s three-year-old team record of 32.15 seconds in the Girls 13-14 50 Meter Butterfly, racing to a 31.37-second finish.
- Sophia Landeryou beat a three-year-old record in the Girls 15-18 50 Meter Breaststroke by 1.02 seconds, finishing in 38.29 seconds.
- The Glade Girls 13-14 200 Meter Medley Relay team of Kaitlin Mahon, Lauren Wagner, Clara Landeryou, and Megha Chava broke last week’s Glade relay team’s record by 3.42 seconds, with a time of 2:16.12.
