Volleyball: SLHS Wins Hayfield Tournament

The South Lakes volleyball team won the Hayfield Hawks Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

The team - led by Setters Rachael Wood and Jackie Trautman  - beat Edison, West Potomac and Mountain View in the first round without losing a set.

During the Gold Bracket play, outside hitters Melody Caloyannides and Kristina Brownell delivered exceptional attacking to beat Herndon.  Other huge contributors to the win were libero Ashley Welker and defensive specialist Kirsten Bohnenberger.

The Seahawks advanced to the Championship match playing a tough Mountain View Team from Stafford. Middle hitters and blockers Vela McBride and Emma Evans dominated the net.  Opposite hitters Sophie Cross and Taylor Mills were also a huge part of the Seahawk win.
